Castle of Santa Barbara
Located on the top of Mount Benacantil, overlooking the city of Alicante is the Castle of Santa Barbara. It was built by Muslims in the 9th century, and is still one of the biggest medieval fortresses in Spain.

Old Town
The Old Town of Alicante is surrounded by 3 main streets, the Rambla de Méndez Núnez, the Explanada de Espanya and Mount Benacantil. Although a bit too tourtistic, the old and narror Spanish streets and the town hall, cathedral, covents and art museum (like Gravina Museum of Fine Arts showcasing Spanish arts) within Old Town is still worth seeing.
The city’s main market is also located nearby the Old Town, in the area of Mercado Central. You can find local shops where locals get their daily needs.

Archaeological Museum of Alicante
Archaeological Museum of Alicante was founded in 1932 and owns more than 80,000 pieces of artifacts found in local archaeological sites. The avant-garde design of the museum shows history of Alicante from Stone Age to medieval times.
Postiguet Beach
How can one skip going to the beach in Spain? Located right in the center of the city is the Postiguet Beach. This beach is busy both day and night. If you are looking for a quieter beach, try the San Juen Beach, which is recognized as one of the finest beach in Spain. San Juen is reachable by bus or tram.

The Alicante Airport, also known as L’Altet Airport is 30 minutes drive away from city center, where buses also provide direct connections. Trains from Madrid and Barcelona also take you to Alicante in 3.5 hours and 5 hours respectively.
